Raspberry Heart Thumbprint Cookies

Heart Jelly Cookies are classic thumbprint-style cookies with hearts filled with sweet fruit jam. The soft, buttery cookie pairs perfectly with the bright, glossy jelly center. These make a wonderful Christmas cookie or Valentine’s Day treat!

Ingredients:

  • Butter
  • Sugar
  • Egg yolks
  • Almond extract
  • Flour
  • Salt
  • Jam

You will need the following items to make this recipe:

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. 

Add the butter and sugars to a large bowl and beat on medium-high speed for 3 minutes. The beat in the egg yolks, almond extract and salt.

Add the flour and little at a time and mix. Once all the flour is added and mixed, put some disposable gloves on and form the dough together.

Then use a 1 1/2 tablespoon cookie scoop to gather dough. Roll the dough into a ball and arrange on a baking sheet 2 inches apart. Press into the ball with the tip of your finger, then again the opposite way; to form a heart.

Fill each heart with jam. 

Transfer the baking sheet to the oven and bake for 13-15 minutes, until the bottom is just golden.

Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to the cooling rack.

  • ⅔ cup sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 ¼ cup flour
  • ¼ cup raspberry jam
