Ingredients Needed:

  • Flour tortillas
  • Overripe avocado
  • Mayonnaise
  • Black pepper
  • Shredded cooked chicken
  • Celery
  • Green onion

How to Make Chicken Taco Pinwheels

Prepare the filling: In a bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, taco seasoning, and hot sauce. Mix until smooth and well-blended.

Assemble the tortillas: Lay out the tortillas on a flat surface. Evenly spread the cream cheese mixture across the surface of each tortilla.

Add toppings: Sprinkle the shredded chicken, followed by cheese and diced tomatoes, over the spread mixture.

Roll tightly: Starting at one edge, roll each tortilla tightly into a log shape. Wrap each roll in plastic wrap.

Chill: Place the wrapped tortillas in the refrigerator for about 1 hour to firm up and allow the flavors to meld.

Slice and serve: Remove the plastic wrap and use a bread knife to slice each roll into 1-inch pieces. Discard (or enjoy) the ends. Arrange the pinwheels flat on a serving platter for an appealing presentation.

Tips and Variations

  • Make it spicier: Add diced jalapeños or extra hot sauce for more heat.
  • Add fresh herbs: Sprinkle chopped cilantro or green onions for added freshness.
  • Switch the protein: Use cooked ground beef or shredded pork as a substitute for chicken.
  • Cheese options: Try using pepper jack, Colby, or queso fresco for different flavor profiles.
  • Add crunch: Include diced bell peppers or shredded lettuce for extra texture.
  • Use flavored tortillas: Opt for spinach, sun-dried tomato, or whole wheat tortillas to enhance the flavor.

Tex-Mex Chicken Pinwheels are a fiesta of flavor wrapped into bite-sized treats! They’re creamy, zesty, and perfectly spiced—ideal for game days, potlucks, or quick snacks. Whether you enjoy them as-is or customize them to suit your taste, these pinwheels are bound to be a hit at your table.
