Using simple supplies from the Dollar Store, create a quick and easy Craft Stick Valentine Heart in just about 30 minutes.
- Craft Sticks, Jumbo – Dollar Store
- Felt Heart and Key Table Scatter – Dollar Store
- Iridescent Glitter Glue – Dollar Store
- Baker’s Twine – Dollar Store
- Glue Gun and Glue Sticks – Low Temp Works Best
- Acrylic Craft Paint – Pink
Gather all supplies. To create the heart, line up four jumbo craft sticks at a slight angle on your work surface. Using scissors, trim additional jumbo craft sticks to the width of the heart and attach with a glue gun and glue sticks. Repeat with the second half of the heart, lining up the craft sticks at the opposite angle.
Glue the heart halves together by lining up the halves along the bottom edges.
TIP: You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.
Basecoat the front and sides of the craft stick Valentine heart with pink acrylic craft paint. Let dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary.
Squeeze out a small amount of iridescent glitter glue and spread out over the surface of the craft stick Valentine heart with your finger. Set aside to dry.
Select a heart and a key shape of your choice from the variety pack of felt table scatter. Attach them to the top center of the heart with a glue gun and glue sticks. Tie baker’s twine into a bow, and glue to the heart to finish.
I hope you had fun creating these bright and colorful Dollar Store Craft Stick Valentine Hearts with the kiddos to not only promote learning skills, but also to spark conversations about love, family, and friendship for Valentine’s Day!
